Community service is part of our mission and Kiwanis provides young people with opportunities to serve. Our pride and joy is sponsorship of our Wellington Schools’ Service Leadership Programs. This includes the Wellington High School Key Club, McCormick Middle School Builders Club for students in grades six through eight, and Westwood Elementary/McCormick Middle K-Kids which includes first through fifth graders. We have over 100 students in these clubs, performing service work in the community and school.

The village that proudly boasts Archibald Willard and his iconic “The Spirit of 76’ painting, had a record 272 U.S. flags waving throughout Wellington as part of Kiwanis’ fifth annual Parade of Flags. We salute the Wellington Eagles and Wellington implement for having 10 flags set in front of their establishments. Our featured July 4th sponsors include Council President Gene Hartman and Beth Hannon with 20 flags in front of the Town Hall and Mayor Hans Schneider at Union School Park. The mayor started the 20-flag sponsorships, and it has grown to include the America Legion at the Vietnam Memorial on the south lawn of the Town Hall, the hill at Barb O’Keefe Way on North Main St., and the Wellington Masonic Lodge on W. Herrick Ave. All proceeds go towards Kiwanis’ Playground Fund, which has reached $75,000. Thank You Wellington. ... See MoreSee Less
