Welcome to Kiwanis Club of Wellington! We have been serving the community since 1924, supporting the three Kiwanis causes for our children and youth: Health and Nutrition, Education and Literacy, and Youth Leadership Development.
When you join Kiwanis, you’ll find our club is a mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds, and interests. We are all passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive. We are devoted to serving the children in our local community and also children all across the country and worldwide through unique and innovative service projects and fundraising initiatives. We sponsor three service leadership programs in the Wellington Schools – the WHS Key Club, the McCormick Middle School Builders Club and the Westwood Elementary School K-Kids – and sponsor two sophomore leaders’ participation in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Forum.
The Kiwanis Club of Wellington meets twice per month:
Business Meeting is at 12 noon on the first Thursday of each month in the back room of Bread and Brew, 100 S. Main St. Order your lunch early at the counter and it will be brought to the back room. Meetings are promptly adjourned at 1:00 pm.
An informative Program Meeting is held monthly on the third Thursday of each month at the Community Room at the Kelly Street Fire Station. Refreshments and networking begin at 5:30 pm, and the program begins at 6:00 to be completed by 7:00 pm. On June 18, representatives of the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department will speak about identifying and preventing human trafficking in light of the recent arrests in Lorain County.
Yes, we have meetings, but our primary role in the community is service – through various hands-on service projects, fundraisers, and supportive donations to youth-oriented causes. We would love to have you join us!
Wellington Kiwanis Club Treasurer Brian Burke (left) and Immediate Past President Terry Mazzone (right) presented Good Knights of Lorain County Executive Director Roger Dorsey with a $3,000 check from the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation at Saturday night’s Adventure Raffle, sponsored by the Wellington Masonic Lodge , Wellington Eagles and Kiwanis. The ODKF grant was one of several donations made to Good Knights. The Wellington Eagles Auxiliary donated $2,000 to Good Knights in addition to the huge bedding drive they conducted this summer. The Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative People Fund awarded a $9,000 grant as part of this effort and Mohr Stamping of Wellington Township donated $3,000. The silent auction gift baskets brought in an additional $2,500. S far, the effort has raised at least $19,500 with additional donations expected. A final tally on ticket sales and other promotional efforts has not yet been completed. The community bed build on the Town Square is Friday, Oct. 23 from 5 to 7p.m. and Saturday Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Last year we built a record 105 beds and this year Dorsey is bringing enough materials for 125-150 beds. Volunteers are needed on both days. No child should go without a bed. ... See MoreSee Less
