Candidates Night, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Wellington, is 7 p.m. Thursday at the Patricia Lindley Performing Arts Center. Ten candidates plus two speakers regarding local ballot issues have committed to attending. Each presenter will be given five minutes to speak. Committed to attending are State Senate candidates (13th District) Gayle Manning and Joe Miller; State Representative candidates (54th District) Brenda Buchanan and Kellie Deeter; Lorain County Commissioner candidates Andrew Lipian, Jeff Riddell, and Carolyn White; Lorain County Auditor candidate Craig Snodgrass; and Ninth District Court of Appeals candidates Betty Sutton and Cynthia Curtin. Also, representatives from Herrick Memorial Library and the Lorain County Public Health District, will be speaking to discuss the merits of the renewal levies they have on the Nov. 3 ballot. Candidates who have yet to commit and would like to attend should email the club at [email protected].
The LCCC Fall Fest is underway and Wellington Kiwanis is distributing free bicycle helmets to prevent head trauma. We size each child to ensure proper fit. Parents or guardian must be present. The fall fest goes until 7 pm. Stop out and see all the public displays. Bread-Brew is serving food.
