Community service is part of our mission and Kiwanis provides young people with opportunities to serve. Our pride and joy is sponsorship of our Wellington Schools’ Service Leadership Programs. This includes the Wellington High School Key Club, McCormick Middle School Builders Club for students in grades six through eight, and Westwood Elementary/McCormick Middle K-Kids which includes first through fifth graders. We have over 100 students in these clubs, performing service work in the community and school.
We sponsor two high school sophomores to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference at Ohio Northern College
At the recent Wellington Kiwanis Pancake Day, the 50/50 drawing raised $417 (including a $50 donation from the winner). Kiwanis designated the funds to go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, one of two charities being supported in the Ohio District by this year’s Governor’s Project.
